Didion a Day (2022)

This original project gave me the chance to design around one quote from Joan Didion’s body of work for every day of 2022. For years I’d loved how Didion captured zeitgeist like no other, and felt I could represent her obdurate acuity and Californian perspective through a new design language. The resulting series utilizes intense, hyper-saturated color, warped typography, and strategic light and shadow. In aggregate, the 365 parts of this project are surprising and illuminating to me even now, and I feel grateful to have brought myself into a deeper engagement with a writer who remains crucial to the Postmodern and New Journalism canons, and vital to my own creative life.

Also, Instagram loved it.
