The Daily Californian (2021-2025)

I started as a designer at Berkeley's student-run newspaper since 1871, The Daily Californian, in September 2021, served as Head of Illustrations and Infographics in the summer of 2022, and was Senior Staff after that. During the academic term I illustrated on a regular basis for the Opinion and Arts & Entertainment departments. Sometimes I did a piece for special issues. I loved the process of efficiently translating and transforming written work into compelling visual arguments. Across a broad range of topics, from climate change, to musicals, to international political events and local city initiatives, my work distinctly and thoughtfully layered archival, print, and Creative Commons materials, as well as original animated elements. In 2023 and 2025, I took home prizes in the category of "Best Photo Illustration" at the California College Media Awards.
