Editorial Illustrations for The Daily Californian
I started as a designer at Berkeley's student-run newspaper since 1871, The Daily Californian, in September 2021, served as Head of Illustrations and Infographics in the summer of 2022, and have been Senior Staff since then. During the academic term I illustrate on a regular basis for the Opinion and Arts & Entertainment departments. Sometimes I'll do a piece for special issues. I love the process of efficiently translating and transforming written work into compelling visual arguments. Across a broad range of topics, from climate change, to musicals, to international political events and local city initiatives, my work distinctly and thoughtfully layers archival, print, and Creative Commons materials, as well as original animated elements. In 2023, I took home first place in the category of "Best Photo Illustration" at the California College Media Awards.
